Apple spends a huge amount of money getting the design right on its products, more so with the iPhone than any other device seeing as though this is its moneymaker. Being in possession of the iPhone 6 I was delighted to be sent a case to review, and while I hate the idea of hiding the handset with its larger size and thinner design, it’s so important to keep it looking like new for as long as possible, especially when you have no intention of purchasing an iPhone 6S in 2015.
The case that has been sent to us is the Spigen Ultra Hybrid iPhone 6 Bumper Case in Gunmetal, and offers the best of both worlds. This is because it looks like a normal bumper from a distant, although upon closer inspection has a clear cover to keep the rear of the phone from scratching.
I have now spent about a week using the iPhone 6 bumper case from Spigen, which has been named Ultra Hybrid and is ideal if you are looking for minimal protection, as well as not adding too much to the thickness of the handset itself.
The packaging is very basic, but it is more about the product than how it is presented to you. It was very easy to slot the iPhone 6 into the bumper case, and getting out is far easier than many of the cases I have owned for my iPhone 5.
There is no chance that the bumper will become lose over time like we have seen from cheaper bumpers, this is thanks to a slightly more rigid construction, along with that clear plastic backing keeping things together.
Just so you know, there are other color options available if Gunmetal does not do it for you, these are Champagne Gold, Metal Slate, Black, Mint and Crystal Clear, which personally would be a better option as you get to see more of the iPhone 6.
Even though the case does not add much more in terms of weight or thickness, it still feels strange and takes a bit of getting used to after having no case on for a few days. However, this is a small tradeoff to keep the phone safe.
A huge positive is that you can sit your iPhone 6 on a flat surface and for it not to wobble because of resting on the corner where the camera lens is. This does put your mind at rest, as there is always the fear the lens could become scratched, even if it is made from sapphire.
However, there is a tradeoff for keeping your iPhone 6 looking like new, and protect it from a very short height if dropped, and that is how the rear plastic cover seems to look as though it is scratched. This does seem strange seeing as though there is extra protection with its air-cushioned corners.
Main Spigen Ultra Hybrid iPhone 6 Bumper Case features:
- Bumper-style allows you to see the iPhone 6’s good looks
- Advanced Shock Absorption Technology: Air Cushioned 4 corners
- Easily access all ports, controls & connectors
Reasons to buy – Keeping your iPhone 6 looking good, advanced shock absorption if you accidentally drop your phone, although not from a great height, keeps the phone looking slimmer than many other cases, and still able to gain access to ports and buttons.
Reasons not to buy – If you are looking for extreme protection, not protection for the screen seeing as though the case is almost level with the display, volume and power buttons not all that easy to press.
Overall, this is a pretty decent case for your iPhone, and at just £19.99 can be purchased from our good friends at MobileFun.
