It is clear to see that Apple has spent a huge amount of money developing its new iPhone 6, well they have to because it is their biggest selling device. Each new iPhone brings a bigger challenge, and that is keeping it safe, especially as they get thinner, and the latest model is no exception. We have already looked at plenty of cases, although we have not been able to get hands-on with most of them, so was pleased when Tech21 offered to send me the iPhone 6 Case Classic Shell with Cover.
My iPhone 6 is going to have to last me two years, as I do not plan to purchase the iPhone 6S, as it seems a huge waste of money only having said handset for just one short year. It is for this very reason why it is so important to keep the new iPhone 6 safe from certain aspects of every day life.
Like we said above, the case that Tech21 sent me was the Classic Shell with Cover in Smokey, although there are three other colors options, those are Clear, Pink and Blue. There is the option to go for the same case, but without the cover, although this will not offer protection for the screen.
I’ve had the case for two weeks now, and found it to be the ideal case if you are looking for something in-between medium and maximum protection thanks to its TPU formula surrounding the outer edge of the phone.
What impressed me the most with this Protective Case for iPhone 6 Classic Shell with Cover most was just how light it was, and the lack of bulkiness that you get with other rugged cases. The case does add a bit of thickness and weight to the iPhone 6, but not as much as you would think, and it is a small price to pay for peace of mind if you do accidentally drop it, but the biggest positive is the cover helps protect the display.
Several of my friends have bought cases and bumpers for their iPhone 6 and found that once fitted they seem to have a slight bagginess to them, but not so with this case from Tech21, as you know this is the real deal. Once in, there is no chance of your iPhone 6 going anywhere, and so gives you even more peace of mind.
It did take some getting used to with the extra bulk, especially as the new iPhone is so much thinner than before. However, the benefits more than outweighs this small negative, although there is one other issue, not being able to see who is texting or calling you, and so a translucent cover could be the answer. This is only a minor issue, one that will be answered if and when you purchase the upcoming Apple Watch.
While I was not prepared to do one of those silly drop tests to see how well this case stands up and protects my phone, we know of its benefits from previous versions of this case, although when I did drop my iPhone 6 by accident, there was no sign of any damage whatsoever. This made me glad that the phone was in the case, as it would have been a completely different story if it was not because from that height, there is no question that one or two corners would have had an unsightly dent in it.
Reasons to buy — Keeping your iPhone 6 looking like new, slim-fitting design, shock absorbing D3O material, flip-over screen cover, and assess to all iPhone 6 features.
Reasons not to buy — If you don’t wish to hide the slim design of the iPhone 6, or if after extreme waterproof and dust proof protection, and if you wish to see who is trying to contact you.
Overall, Tech21 has developed a pretty decent case for the iPhone 6, and at £29.99 is a small price to pay to keep it safe and looking like new.
