ZTE Era price factor crucial against LG Optimus 4X, HTC One X

LG and HTC may be getting everyone talking with regards to their Optimus 4X and One X smartphones which both come with quad-core processors respectively, but another quad-core handset that has also been announced is the ZTE Era, and we have a great video preview for you to look at.

By seeing these three quad-core phones announced over the last few days, it’s clear that dual-core isn’t really good enough any more as consumers get more and more demanding. There’s no word on if Samsung, Motorola or Apple have a quad-core smartphone in the works, but with the likes of the ZTE Era, there is always going to be other options available to you.

Out the three quad-core phones announced so far, we expect the LG Optimus 4X to become available first within the next few months. If you don’t mind waiting a bit longer though, you may want to consider the ZTE Era as being a Chinese manafacturer, the smartphone will probably be available at a cheaper price but with still very decent hardware specs.

To give you an overview of what the ZTE Era brings to the quad-core table, there is an LCD-based 4.3-inch display screen which has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. Like the One X and Optimus 4X, there’s an NVIDIA quad-core Tegra 3 processor on board combined with 1GB of RAM. There’s also an 8 megapixel rear camera, 8GB of internal storage and 1080p HD video recording capablities available.

While the ZTE Era may not be deemed premium in terms of build quality, one advantage that it will have over the Optimus 4X and definitely the HTC One X is that it will offer a stock Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience, which is what most Android fans crave for the most when buying a new handset. We spoke about Android 5.0 Jelly Bean earlier, so we’re hoping that the ZTE Era will also be compatible with the next version of Android, given that it is releasing later on in the year in Europe and China and Jelly Bean may be out this November.

To take a much closer look at the Era in intimate detail, it’s a good idea to check out one of the first hands-on look at the device, straight from the MWC show floor. This particular video has been uploaded by the guys over at Mobileburn, and it gives you a great introduction to the device and lets you see if the handset is deemed worthy of consideration when the time is right to fork up for a quad-core handset. Who knows, by the time the Era is out at retail we may already have a few more quad-core phones to tell you about.

Are you interested in the ZTE Era or are you a bit concerned that ZTE hasn’t really proved themselves yet as a big player in the smartphone industry yet?
