YouTube Art: Can Videos Be Considered As Art?

There is no denying how popular social media has become, but who would have thought that it would have made an impression in modern art? I have seen some strange pieces of art in my time, but a collection of photos from Flickr has to be the weirdest yet.

The event called “YouTube Play: Biennial of Creative Video,” also had a collection of videos from the social media service. In all there were 23,000 entries — I would not have wanted to be the person in charge of sorting through all those entries.

Yahoo says that those of you who expected to see the standard videos from YouTube, then you will be disappointed, as these were very serious and covered a range of subjects including music and animation.

These videos were finally narrowed down to just 25, which you can view in all their glory on the YouTube Play page.
