Xperia S in no rush to release, still on course

The recently teased Sony Xperia S has got many Android fans excited about the feature packed handset. So far there hasn’t been any official confirmation when the device will be launched, but recent retailer listings seemed to have provided a date. The Sony Xperia S is in no rush to release though but the company has revealed it is still on course.

As we reported before the device was seemingly set to ship at the end of January according to online retailer Play.com, but this has obviously come and gone without the handset releasing. This has now been pushed back to March 6th by the company, but Sony has refuted clams the device has been delayed according to an article over at Cnet.

Sony has responded to the delay rumors and said the Xperia S release date was always going to be in March. Rival retailers also have the device down for a March shipping date with SIM free prices in the UK hovering around the £450 mark.

According to listings from Amazon and eBuyer we can expect the Xperia S on March 12th, and carriers in the country such as Orange, O2, T-Mobile, and Three are set to offer the handset to its customers. In the past carriers and retailers have provided a good source of information regarding release dates and pricing of new devices, and more often than not are accurate.

But some may be getting a bit premature with their release dates just to get some publicity. There is a good chance the actual release date will be confirmed by Sony at the MWC later this month. Do you plan to get the Sony Xperia S?
