Xiaomi Mi VR Play headset lacks Mi Max support

In what has to be one of the worst kept secrets, Xiaomi have finally unveiled their virtual reality headset, which is called the Mi VR Play and is powered by a smartphone. There are one or two things that we feel needs pointing out, first is its support, and secondly the price.

While the Xiaomi Mi VR Play price is something to be desired, as it costs just 1 RMB, which converts to just $0.15. Ok, so we know that this device will not be made available in the US just yet and does not have an official public release yet, This is the reason for such a cheap price, as this is currently only for beta testers, and so its final pricing and availability have yet to be shared.

The other issue we have with this is the fact that the Xiaomi Mi VR Play headset lacks Mi Max support. This is because cheap headset currently supports handsets from 4.7 to 5.7 inches, and with the Mi Max having a display size of 6.44 inches, owners will not be able to take advantage of using their device to see just how good the Mi VR Play is.

There’s yet another issue though, and that’s how Xiaomi have yet to detail how people can sign-up as a Mi VR Play headset beta tester, although we suspect that there will be a huge number of people reverting their interest.

What makes the Mi VR Play any different to rival devices? Well, firstly the smartphones are secured in place with a zipper at the front, which is sure to have its lovers and haters. Secondly, Xiaomi will offer the headset in a variety of prints and colours rather than just plan white or black.
