Xbox One Emergency Offline Update (EOU) steps for patch

Just like the PS4, you will not be able to get the most from your Xbox One until you have installed a day one patch. And just like Sony, Microsoft is allowing people to download the patch hours before the console is released, so there is no reason why you should not download it now.

The Emergency Offline Update (EOU) as Microsoft is calling the patch is an important system update and so you should really download this sooner rather than later. The install size is 2GB and will require a USB drive formatted to NTFS.

There are three simple steps that you need to perform in order to download the patch and then install on your Xbox One once you have taken possession of the console at midnight. There are a few midnight launch events taking place, allowing you to get your Xbox One early.

We would advise you to read these instructions fully before you install the Xbox One update, that way you know what you are doing and should not run into any trouble. For some reason the main page is not there anymore, and so we are using the cached page instead.

As we said above, there are three steps, these are “On your Xbox One console”, “On your computer” and “On your Xbox One console”. Just remember to follow each step carefully.
