Xbox Live Gold free weekend entices gamers

If you have always experienced Xbox 360 gaming without ever being tempted to dive into the world of Xbox Live Gold memberships, this weekend is probably the best chance you have to change your ways. Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live Gold is having another of its free weekends and this time it will be available in many regions worldwide.

It also means that having a free trial of Xbox Live Gold will also enable you to temporarily enjoy Microsoft’s new Games with Gold program. In turn, this will pave the way for you to sample a full version of Halo 3 between October 4 and October 6 as that is the main free game for October.

October 4-6 are the key dates for the Xbox Live Gold trial and you will be very pleased with the list of supported countries over at Major Nelson’s website. Even gamers in Hong Kong, Israel, the UAE and Vietnam are included, so hopefully everyone will be able to take advantage of this over the weekend.

Aside from being able to play the likes of Halo 3 completely free over the weekend, there’s also the matter of being able to take your recently purchased GTA V game, online and tear it up for a few days. That is of course if Rockstar has managed to make their servers a lot more stable following a frantic launch when everyone is trying to log in at exactly the same moment.

Microsoft’s idea will be to get everyone on Xbox Live Gold this weekend and hopefully give them enough reason to join the service full time – perhaps with one eye on increasing potential membership subscriptions for Xbox Live on the Xbox One as well.

Free is free though so don’t miss this great opportunity to sample Xbox Live before Microsoft close their doors again and resume normal duties under a pay wall. Let us know if you have never tried Xbox Live Gold before and whether you intend to take full advantage of this over the weekend.
