WWE 13 Attitude Era is a trip down memory lane

Following on from the excitement surrounding the full reveal of the WWE 13 character roster, we now have further good news for you. THQ has released a new gameplay trailer for the game, previewing the highly anticipated Attitude Era which aims to recreate the heyday of Monday Night Raw all those years ago.

For those that are not aware, Attitude Era within WWE 13 will give you the opportunity to play as Stone Cold Steve Austin and re-live the famous McMahon corporation storyline that happened on RAW starting from 1997. Aside from the Austin storyline, you’ll also be able to witness the glory days of DX – with Shawn Michaels, Triple H, X-Pac, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn all playable in the game.

We’re pleased to see that the Brothers of Destruction Kane and Undertaker will also have a part to play in Attitude Era mode, as will The Rock and the three faces of Mick Foley – Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love. Playing through the mode will also score you a vast amount of Attitude Era unlockables, the most appealing of which is actual WWE footage taken from the best parts of the era.

Then there’s tons of characters to be unlocked, such as The British Bulldog and Bret Hart. You can check out the full roster again here if you missed it earlier this week and see the rest of the superstars that will be playable in the mode. We like how Edge and Christian are included as a tag tag, although it is a little bit disappointing that Gangrel isn’t featured to make up the complete Brood stable.

We’ll be the first to say that there hasn’t really been too many ‘great’ wrestling games over the last few years, but WWE 13 is definitely looking like it may change this trend. WWF Wrestlefest and No Mercy remain the games to beat in our opinion – do you think WWE 13 is looking better then both?

Check out the Attitude Era trailer below and let us know if you’ll be picking up the game on October 30 or not.
