WWDC 2014: Cheaper iMac or Retina, 4K desirability

During the last few WWDC events Apple has unveiled new hardware, and we do not see why this year will be any different. We have already heard suggestions that Apple plan to release a new piece of hardware at WWDC 2014, and while we already have a few ideas, we won’t know until Monday, June 2nd.

However, this has not stopped KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, as not content in making predictions for Apple’s 2014 product lineup, he has also thrown in a couple more into the mix. One is a 8GB iPhone 5S and the other a cheaper iMac.

Loop’s Jim Dalrymple has since offered his opinion on this rumor, and his simple answer was “nope”. We can understand why he would say no to a smaller capacity iPhone 5S, especially when the minimum should be 32GB and not 16GB, so who knows why anyone would want an 8GB version where there is no expandable memory?

As for a cheaper iMac in 2014, now this we can see because the current model is often out of reach of those with a limited budget, and if Apple were able to appeal to a different demographic, then sales could increase and allow them to surpass Lenovo for computer sales.

A reference has appeared in OS X 10.9.4 beta that hints of a new model, and so this is why rumors of a cheaper iMac have resurfaced one again. However, we have to wonder if you would rather a Retina iMac or 4K version, as it is clear that while its visual is rather impressive, the current iMac display quality is getting left behind by rivals.

We still remain a little skeptical because why would Apple need to use WWDC 2014 as a platform to release a cheaper iMac, as they never did this for the new MacBook Air a month ago?

Let’s say that Apple were to announce a new iMac next month, would you rather a cheaper model or one with a Retina or 4K-display quality?
