WWDC 2010: iTunes Cloud Vs Spotify U.S Release Date

Following on from the rumors that Apple may be planning to announce a cloud-based version of iTunes at WWDC 2010, we are hearing reports that the service may go head-to-head with the U.S version of Spotify – which is edging closer to a release.

As reported from Apple Insider, Apple’s current cloud-based service is due to close on 31st May, which is just days away from the start of WWDC on June 7th. This has led to rumors that the company are planning a web-based version of iTunes – which they will unveil during the event.

It is no secret that a U.S version of popular streaming service Spotify has been on the cards for some time, with numerous delays already occuring over licensing. However, the latest rumors are suggesting that the software could debut as early as Summer, meaning that it could go head-to-head against Apple’s new cloud-based iTunes.

What are your thoughts on this? Would you prefer Spotify or iTunes?

Hi, Spotify is fantastic. You can hear music at no cost and it looks like Itunes. I think Apple has a problem here.

Actually you can also save the music to your hard drive by using a recording software.

I prefer Spotify to Itunes, but I will keep Itunes as well.

To use Spotify is to love it, especially since you don't have to get yourself locked into the monster that is iTunes. I've been using Spotify for free for over a year and I would hate to have to give it up.

If Apple launches a cloud based iTunes, I’m there in a heartbeat. Spotify is vaporware as far as I’m concerned. I will miss Lala, but maybe if this scenario works outvit will only be for a week. I’ll bet some developers are scrambling to meet the deadline.

Can't wait for Spotify to launch. The sound is great, and the UI is really easy and clean. Used it overseas and am looking forward to the launch here with great anticipation.
