We knew that Blizzard were considering a Robin Williams World of Warcraft tribute after the news broke of his passing away, but now we are delighted to see that Blizzard has now put that plan into action as Robin Williams is now live in the World of Warcraft Warlords of Draenor beta.
The beta is ongoing as we speak and some players who are participating have already found the Robin Williams easter egg. In a perfect tribute, the comedian and actor will take on the role of a genie in the game which will be officially known as the ‘Ever-burning Lamp’.
Players can rub this lamp and the genie will appear and say the following lines “Infinite Cosmic Power” and ” Itty Bitty Living Space”. Those who are very familiar with the classic film Aladdin will know that these are two of the same lines in which William’s character uses in the film.
Aside from the genie appearance, players have also spotted further references to William’s work. These include a broken egg shell in a throwback to Mork and Mindy and also a possible future appearance to a Mrs Doubtfire NPC character later on.
This should put a smile on the faces of not only WoW players, but gamers around the world. The WoW Robin Williams Genie location can be found on an island near Talador, one of the new areas that will be featured in the Warlords of Draenor expansion.
Let us know if you are currently in the beta and are searching for the island as we speak. Have you managed to find it? Now we just need Nintendo to follow up on the calls for Williams to be included in the next Zelda game on Wii U.
