WoW Cataclysm: Preview Before Release Date

Earlier this month Jamie Pert excited us by letting us know that the World of Warcraft (WoW) expansion was still set for a 2010 launch, but at that time had no idea as to a release date. Since then he has elaborated on this by saying that Cataclysm is still months away, which could mean a holiday season launch — perfect as most players will be at home for the holidays exploring what’s new in the realm.

Kyle Horner from GamePro seems more excited than most about WoW Cataclysm, but before we take a look at his preview we thought that you would need reminding that Jamie Pert also took a closer look at what we can expect from World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector’s Edition, which will retail at $79.99 once it gets released.

So on to the preview of the game, Horner believes that this expansion pack offers more than some of the previous ones, such as Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King — only time will tell if he is right about that.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm is like most of the other expansion packs, as it aims to focus on a key event — this one being all about an escaped dragon who then decides to begin a reign of destruction throughout Azeroth.

Are you excited about the new expansion pack?

I've played wow since classic beta, In all honesty if this Xpack does not have more content, and if it does not stop giving full favor to the casuals giving them free gear, I'm done with wow. This latest expansion Wrath was just a disappointment, hardly any raiding, you could skip nearly everything and go right into ICC 10 by doing heroics for 3 weeks. It's a insult to raiders who work hard. But yet this latest one did not even let us work for gear or our epics, You handed them to us on a silver plate. Unless the… Read more »

IDK, I know Cataclysm is claiming to have more end-game content, but I'm seeing a lot of focus on the leveling up process. Out of the zones that have been mentioned only 2 are at the level cap and only 3 dungeons are at the cap as well Sure heroic dungeons are there to keep things difficult, but you're really just playing the same dungeon, just in a different manner. I expect Cataclysm to be just like the other expansions, level up -> raid/go through dungeons till you get bored -> find that there is nothing but quests when those… Read more »
