With only a fraction over 3 weeks to go until the release date of Cataclysm, we have heard an insightful and rather important piece of information regarding the exact times that WoW players will be able to start leveling to 85, and experiencing all the new content with their newly created Worgen or Goblin.
According to a blue post on the official World of Warcraft forums, Bashiok confirmed that no matter how or where you buy your copy of Cataclysm, you will have to wait until 12:00am PST on December 7 to start playing.
Now that’s all well and good for those of you living on the west coast, but for those of you who live elsewhere (east coast), it looks as though you are going to have to wait at least a couple of hours for the west coast to catch up before you are able to play.
European players on the otherhand are not affected, as their release will coincide with Paris time, meaning that you will be able to play Cataclysm at midnight CET.
The full announcement is as follows: –
Wondering exactly what time you’ll be able to begin playing your goblin or worgen or making your way to level 85? On all North American realms, World of Warcraft players who upgrade to Cataclysm will be able to begin experiencing the new content at 12 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (3 a.m. Eastern Standard Time) on December 7, whether they purchase the digital download through Battle.net or buy a physical retail boxed version in stores. Players will not be able to access Cataclysm expansion content prior to 12 a.m. PST, regardless of how they upgrade or what time zone they’re located in.
For those of you who remember previous expansions, this will be the first time Blizzard are doing it this way, as before you could play as soon as the game was installed.
Well not any more, as it is my guess that Blizzard want everyone to be able to enjoy the content at exactly the same time (as well as making the realm firsts fair on everybody in Azeroth).
Are you looking forward to Cataclysm? Are you buying digitally, from a store, or on pre-order?
