With the holiday season almost upon us, how much time do you spend checking email’s from work instead of being with your friends of family? A survey by XOBNI realeased today is saying that 79% of working adults in the US have received work emails during holidays such as Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Fifty nine percent of those surveyed actually check work emails during the holidays, with 55% of those who do cheak do so at least once a day, and 28% check mutiple times per day. The male population check their emails more than their female counterparts, with 67% compared to just 50%. Of the people who received work emails 33% of them are annoyed, 15% frustrated, and 11% are resentful.
Of those who admit to checking their emails 42% of them think it helps with their workload when they return to work, with 10% who have checked emails during meals, and parties/gatherings. 19% of pople who received emails where “relieved” or “thankful” to have the distraction.
Younger workers are more likely to check their emails at anappropriate times, with 15% of the 18-34 age group admitting to it compared to 7% for the over 55.
