The Withings Activite Pop launched in the UK this year and one of the Product Reviews team went hands-on right after release, although their experience with the new activity tracker wasn’t a pleasant one. While they loved the 8-month battery life compared to the likes of Apple Watch lasting at most 2 days, the Activite Pop launched with major problems.
As seen in our past article, the Withings Activite Pop glass cracked on two different models for our reviewer. This resulted in some stress with taking the product back and getting another model, but we did wonder if this had been an isolated issue? Product Reviews broke the story first in regard to glass popping and last month, at the time of publication, no blogs or mainstream media had report this problem.
Comments on the our exclusive story reveal others also had problems with Withings Activite Pop glass breaking, and some even found glass in their bed after waking up in the morning. This fact alone would worry many shoppers, so it’s now good to see Withings has finally responded to the issues.
Withings Activite Pop new blue dot models – The company has acknowledged the defect with the first batches that were mostly sent to Europe, and as such explains why our tests resulted in broken glass. Withings confirmed the design and glass manufacturing process resulted glass to break, although they are exchanging watches and we had no problem getting a refund for a broken watch at Curry’s UK.
While we haven’t run any tests on the new Withings Activite Pop models with a blue dot, we would gladly perform a hands-on review if their PR team want to contact us, we have been informed that finding a blue dot on the box/card points to a model that has improved glass that shouldn’t crack.
Have you had a new Withings Activite Pop model with a blue dot and if so, did the glass crack for you?
