Winning Apps For Samsung Smart TV Contest

By now you will be getting a good idea at just how popular Samsung’s new range of TVs are, so much so that we thought we would take a look at the winning apps for the Samsung Smart TV Contest. The challenge was launched back in September 2010 in three main European counties, France, Germany and the UK.

This was launched at the same time as the Smart TV SDK, which as we all know makes things easier for developers to develop apps. Samsung must have been shocked by the response, as over 2,000 developers registered for their share of the total €500,000 prize fund, along with their app taking pride of place on the Samsung App Storefront.

Apps were voted for by region, first place for each were Astra Recommends for UK, Askking for France and Yogamour for Germany. Second for each were CineTrailer, Cadremploi TV and LinguaTV. Finally third for each region are as follows, TV Darts Show, Akinator and Multiplayer MauMau.

Visit www.samsungsmarttvchallenge.eu for the complete list of winning European apps by region from 120 countries there are now 400 Samsung Smart TV apps available, and this number is growing all the time. When you think that it is just a TV and does not have the reach as smartphones, they are doing a great job. More apps are becoming available all the time, such as the new ones from MTV and HBO.

Samsung Smart TV Apps are not even a year old, and there has already been 3 million downloads. How will the company compete once the likes of other TV makers start offering a similar service?
