MWC 2010 is well underway and we have covered a huge range of handset releases over the past couple of days. However, the biggest news has to be the Windows Phone 7 Series, which we have a review of here. There are those who wonder if any release will be too late for Microsoft?
We know that Microsoft have been working for sometime on this new smartphone, ZD Net explains that the new device has Zune software running things, but with a “unique and fresh” feel. It is no secret that Microsoft and their Windows Mobile OS has been taking a beating from the likes of the Apple iPhone and Google Android OS, so they could have mounted their comeback too late.
Microsoft always seems to be late to the party; you only have to look at their Zune player. The first device was launched in 2006, a little late considering Apple had launched their iPod back in 2001. The rest is history on that story, as the latter became the most popular MP3 player in the world. Sales are much lower for the iPod now, but only because Apple have the iPod Touch and the iPhone now.
Get more details on why ZD Net thinks that Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Series is too little too late.
