Windows Phone 7: Old WinMo applications will ‘not’ be compatible – Microsoft

Some interesting, and potentially disappointing news for Windows Mobile owners now, as Microsoft has just confirmed that the thousands of applications designed on old Windows Mobile handsets, will not be compatible with handsets running Windows Phone 7 Series.

As reported from LA Times, Microsoft are preparing to unleash their new collection of Phone 7 handsets before the end of this year.

While some of you will think this is a good idea for the future, others may not. Microsoft however, are choosing the first option, as Charlie Kindel, a Microsoft executive states: “For us, the cost of going from good to great is a clean break from the past.”

What are your thoughts on this? Do you support Microsoft’s idea that a fresh start is more ideal for the direction of Windows Phone 7, or do you feel that certain existing apps should be compatible with the new handsets?
