Windows 10 update error 0x800705b4 fix

We are getting reports that many of you have been suffering from the Windows 10 update error 0x800705b4 this week and are desperately looking for a fix.

If this applies to you, we wanted to point you in the direction of an apparent fix which has been suppled by Microsoft via their Support Answers section of their website.

Microsoft has revealed that if you are getting the error code above, it relates to Windows Defender and that the first step in fixing it should be to temporarily disable all third party antivirus and firewall software, whilst making sure Windows Firewall is turned on.

If that doesn’t work, you can try another method which Microsoft has detailed in the following screenshot:

Failing that, we would recommend that you run the Windows Update Troubleshooter program, making sure that you are running it as an Administrator which you will be able to enable in the advanced tab.

Has anyone else seen this error this week and suffering from the same problems? Let us know if the method worked for you above or if you are still having issues and we’ll try to help further.
