Windows 10 restarts laptops with internal power error

It seems you can add Windows 10 internal power error problems to the growing list of complaints for those upgrading yesterday, which will join over 100 comments in regard to the download or install getting stuck. The latest bug seems to be related to laptops only, and there’s plenty of Windows 10 forum threads being started with users sharing possible fixes.

One Product Reviews reader points out that, “Windows 10 keeps restarting and says internal_power_error when it restarts”. Another added, “How do I fix this Windows 10 INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR? I didn’t have any problems with 8.1”. It’s clear this issue includes laptops getting restarted, although it’s not clear if the issues are found on desktop versions as well.

Have you seen the Windows 10 internal power error? If so, leave a comment detailing when the issue takes place and on what brand/model of computer. For help finding a fix, you might want to start by looking at the graphics card and killing certain processes mentioned in this Microsoft help article.

In a nutshell, you might need to kill all AMD processes and catalyst processes from task manager. This fix is discussed in detail via Reddit, but others have also found help within this forum thread talking about the Windows 10 restart loop.

If you own the Lenovo y40-80 laptop and get this Windows 10 Internal Power Error, then you should see this Lenovo forum with other solutions. Dell Inspiron owners have also joined in a debate and talk about possible fixes as well.

There’s a forum for the HP ProBook 450 G1 that’s marked as solved here, which explains a fix starting with booting into Windows 10 safe mode and then uninstalling certain graphic and network drivers. This clearly supports other fixes that detail graphics cards, as the cause.

Remember to leave your feedback below and of course let us know if any of the solutions fixed the bug you’re seeing.
