Previously we have seen the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, therefore we could potentially see a iPhone 4GS next, this would pretty much definitely connect to 4G networks and would probably be an iPhone 4 with upgraded internals rather than a completely new smartphone.
The difference between the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS was not massive, but still a worthy upgrade, both smartphones looked pretty much identical, however the iPhone 3G featured 128MB eDRAM, either 8GB or 16GB of storage, a 620 MHz CPU underclocked to 412 MHz and a 2 megapixel camera which could not record video, whereas the iPhone 3GS features 256MB eDRAM, either 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of storage, a 833 MHz CPU underclocked to 600 MHz and a 3 megapixel camera (capable of 480p @30fps video capture).
If we see an iPhone 4GS many predict that it will look very similar to the iPhone 4, but will have upgraded internals, as mentioned before it could well feature 4G connectivity, but what performance-related hardware will it feature?
The iPhone 4 has 512 MB eDRAM, either 16GB or 32GB of storage, a 1GHz Apple A4 processor and a 5 megapixel camera capable of record 720p video @30fps, therefore you would have thought that the iPhone 4GS will feature slightly better hardware than this.
I thought I would hazard a guess at the iPhone 4GS’ internal hardware, perhaps we will see 768MB eDRAM, either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage, a 1.2-1.4GHz processor and a camera capable of recording 720p video at 60fps, perhaps this will be a 7.2 megapixel camera, however usually Apple tend to stick to whole numbers, such as a 6 megapixel camera or a 7 megapixel camera.
To be honest with you I think the iPhone 4’s internal hardware combined with iOS 4 gives this device great performance, therefore I think almost everyone would much prefer Apple to concentrate on strong signal rather than making this smartphone ridiculously fast, what do you think?
Do you think Apple will release an iPhone 4GS?
