The news that Wiesmann is to upgrade the engines in their MF4 and MF5 models was great for those planning to purchase one. However, those on a lower budget were not happy to learn that the Wiesmann MF3 Roadster will not get the new BMW engine upgrade.
The company has said that they will stick with the current BMW S54 6-cylinder engine, which is getting on a bit now. The two other models will get their engines now.
As for the other two models, the MF4 and MF5 will get the new BMW 4.4l V8 twin turbo engine, which will produce 407HP, however, the latter will get an increase in performance to 555 horsepower. The MF4 will have a top speed of 180.8 mp/h, while the MF5 will have a top speed of 193.2 mp/h — so not much in it.
0-60 time for the MF4 and MF5 will be 4.6 seconds and 3.9 seconds respectively. As yet there are no details on how much extra you will have to pay for this engine upgrade. More details can be found on Autoblog.
