Wi-Fi on Continental Airlines in Q2 2010

Whenever we go on a flight we feel detached from the world, this is because we are unable to connect to the Internet on a number of our flights. However, Continental Airlines have become one of the few to offer Wi-Fi on flights, the service will be available in Q2 2010.

Gogo Inflight Internet will be implemented across its fleet of Boeing 757-300 aircraft; these 21 planes are used mostly for domestic flights. This service will come as good news to travelers, as they can now go-ahead and get on with work or just chat away to friends or family, this will certainly make the flight go by quicker.

Customers will have full access to the Internet when connecting through a device with built in Wi-Fi, such as a laptop, netbook or smartphone. The speed of the Internet will be similar to what you are used to on the ground.

The service can only be accessed once above 10,000 feet and will use the Aircell Network. The cost starts from $4.95, which will be based on your length of flight. This is a small price to pay if you are waiting on an email for work, or you have a deadline to meet so can get all your work done while in flight.

Engadget wonders if Continental Airlines will allow their passengers to log in to see if their flight will have the Wi-Fi service, just like American and US Airways already do?
