VW 1.6, 2.0 diesels repair procedure, hardware and software update

While drivers in the US will be getting compensation payouts due to the Volkswagen diesel scandal, it looks as though people in Europe will be the first to get their affected models recalled and fixed.

The repair procedure for the VW 1.6, 2.0 diesels have now been detailed, and will require the former to get a hardware upgrade and software update, whereas the latter only needs to have its software updated.

VW repair procedure for diesels

Volkswagen recalls are to begin from January in Germany, although there is no clue as to when these recalls will be rolled out in the UK and other European countries.

Not much else has been shared, although Car Recalls UK does report that the VW 2.0 TDI needs a software update, but the details of what this new code changes have not been released.

We do not know when the fix will happen in the US, this is because the changes need to be approved by Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board, and we all know how long things like that can take.
