The 2014 Geneva Auto Show wouldn’t be the same without an entry from Volvo and the new Concept Estate looks like it has undergone some enhancements that include shooting brake two-door sport-wagon body style. Today we are investigating what this new vehicle brings to the table and whether Volvo has another successful estate on their hands.
The new classy looking Volvo is said to have an informal interior that is relaxed and comes with a completely new interface. Some stunning live photos can be seen on the Motor Authority website coming from this year’s Geneva Motor Show, as the aforementioned site highlights some new features that are apparent with this model.
While they admit the long low hood and subtle sculpting does not scream out performance, the rear design is welcomed as a return to the loved 1800 ES version. They feel that the instrument panel and telltale thin seats means this car is not far off its production form, while they also highlight the use of an Apple CarPlay based system and the opportunity to use a range of voice-activated Siri functions within the car.
For those of you interested in what else Volvo intends to offer we recently documented a report suggesting Volvo has explored a delivery concept for parked cars. This is a great idea for those of you incapacitated with work or other commitments, as this service relies on shoppers ordering products to be sent straight to their parked Volvo whilst they are busy elsewhere.
The idea could means your delivery will be taken to your car regardless whether it resides in a workplace car park or outside your house. Companies will be given a specific key to unlock your Volvo for only the delivery person to use allowing your goods to be safely stored away until you are ready to collect them.
A new service called Roam Delivery has tested this with Volvo providing companies with a one-time digital key and details of the car such as GPS coordinates and map locations as well as the finer details including registration plate, model, colour and any other relevant or unique information.
This idea seems to be taking off in Sweden and the service could be commercially available within the next two years, so do you think this is an innovative idea from Volvo?
