Whenever you think of a hybrid vehicle you think of something that is designed to reduce your carbon footprint, but always comes at a price. That price is performance; as we well know that the extra weight of the batteries and electric motor is the downside to the hybrid. However, the rumored Volkswagen Touareg R Hybrid aims to change all that.
Zach Bowman from Autoblog learned from Auto Evolution that VW is looking to develop an R version of their popular SUV and will bring together the forces of a powerful V8 gasoline engine with an electric motor, which itself will pack a punch.
As this is just a rumor we have to take the report with a pinch of salt, but the Italian website states that the Touareg Hybrid will pack 500hp from its V8 gasoline engine and another 47 horsepower from its electric motor.
However, that is not the best part, it is the amount of torque that will be available to the vehicle, which looks set to crush any other SUV in its wake.
