ViewSonic ViewPad 4 – Android-Based Smartphone Unveiled

We’ve seen a few new smartphones unveiled at this year’s CES event in Las Vegas, including the LG Optimus Black — featuring a 4-inch NOVA display and Wi-Fi Direct certification — and the Samsung i997 Infuse 4G. Now it appears that ViewSonic has just unveiled the ViewPad 4 smartphone.

The ViewPad 4 is powered by a 1GHz processor, features a 4.1-inch WVGA display and runs on Google’s Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. According to a recent report by Eric M. Zeman over at, it also features a 5-megapixel camera that can capture 720p HD video.

Although we don’t know any information on carrier availability or pricing at this stage, we do know that it is due to launch in the later part of this quarter. The ViewPad 4 also features Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth, 2GB internal memory and Adobe Flash Mobile Player 10.1 support.

As noted on the full list of specs over on the website, the ViewSonic ViewPad 4 also comes with Facebook and YouTube support and Internet browsing support for HTML, XHTML, Flash and Flash Lite. What do you think of the ViewPad 4? Can you see yourself buying one?
