A few days ago ViewSonic announced that two of its tablets — a 7-inch tablet running Android 2.2 and a 10-inch Android / Windows dual OS tablet with Wi-Fi and 3G — would be making their way onto the Indian market within the next week or so. Now the company has announced that the Viewsonic V350 and ViewPad 4 smartphones are also heading to India.
According to a recent article over at themobileindian.com by Nilabh Jha, the ViewSonic V350 smartphone will run on the Android 2.2 OS and feature a new 3D interface, while the ViewPad 4 will be powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm processor and come with a 4.1-inch display. The display on the ViewSonic V350 is a little bit smaller at 3.5-inches.
The ViewSonic V350 will in fact be the second dual-SIM Android phone to be sold in the country, with the first being the Spice Mi270. However, the Mi270 model is more along the lines of a basic phone, whereas the V350 comes with more features. Ajay Sharna — country manager of ViewSonic — said that both phones are high on technology and offer superior functionality.
The V350 smartphone is an active dual-SIM device (meaning that both SIM cards are active at all times), which enables the use of two different network services at the same time. The V350 comes with an HVGA (320 x 480) capacitive touch screen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, Assisted GPS navigation, microSD card expansion up to 32GB and a 5MP camera with auto focus.
As for the price, the VIewSonic V350 is likely to be priced up at around Rs 17,000. Meanwhile, the Flash 10.1-enabled ViewPad 4 — which will offer both tablet and phone functionality – will run on the Android Gingerbread OS and come with a 4.1-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen display. This model also features a 5-megapixel camera.
The ViewPad 4 will also support 720p HD video capture, playback, upload and includes a mini HDMI 720p display output. However, the ViewPad 4 also comes with an additional front facing camera for video calling, along with Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi connectivity. The expected price of the ViewPad 4, which uses the latest ViewScene UI, is Rs 20,000.
Both models will offer up to 8 customizable home screens, and will be available to purchase from Reliance Digital outlets. Are you looking to buy a new mobile phone?
