Tomorrow customers will finally be able to get hold of the Motorola Droid 2 from Verizon Wireless Stores, so far no (or very few) reputable smartphone review websites have had hands-on experience, however expectations are high.
Earlier today we revealed that the Droid 2 with its Android 2.2 FroYo operating system outperforms the Nexus One running the same OS version, therefore excitement is building as the Droid 2 could be the fastest Android smartphone ever made.
There are a lot of reasons as to why there are such high expectations from the Droid 2, the Droid 2 is essentially a Droid X with a physical QWERTY keyboard and Android 2.2, the Droid X has been very well received, therefore a similar device running the latest Google operating system is extremely desirable.
The original Motorola Droid has previously proven that Motorola are more than capable of creating a decent QWERTY slider smartphone, and no-doubt they will have learned a lot from the first release, this means that the Droid 2 should have a better keyboard than its predecessor and a better overall design, also we already know that it has a much faster processor (almost double the clock speed).
The final piece of the puzzle is the great coverage that Verizon offer, the iPhone 4 has been held back by its antenna issues and somewhat lackluster AT&T coverage, however Verizon’s 3G network is regarded as superior (to AT&T’s) by many, sure it is not as fast as Sprint’s 4G network, however solid 3G connectivity is more than sufficient for web surfing and keeping in-touch with social networks.
Do you think the Droid 2 will live up to the high expectations?
