Time to jump aboard another Verizon iPhone rumor bandwagon, and this one is pretty special. We’re hearing reports that Apple are planning to release an upgraded version of their CDMA iPhone, only this one will have support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
This particular information has some strength to it though, as the details have actually surfaced from a Verizon executive who disclosed hints about the device during a recent investor call. Here is a quote from the executive, Fran Shammo as reported from Reuters:
“There could be some (margin) lumpiness when you launch the phone. “If there happens to be a new one that comes out, that quarter might not look so good (either).”
Obviously the ending part of his comments are most interesting, and could be a clear sign that a new Verizon iPhone device will be out before the end of the year. If that’s the case, then it is very likely that this iPhone will have 4G LTE support amongst other hardware upgrades.
Pretty exciting details there don’t you think? We could be seeing a 4G Verizon iPhone with also a dual-core processor by the time 2011 ends – now that really would be something. As always, we’ll update you when we hear more details on this.
Let us know your thoughts on the subject – Do you think it’s likely that Apple will offer a revised version of their iPhone to make use of Verizon’s 4G LTE capabilities? It would be a logical step for Apple and Verizon, since they’d then be able to market their device with the ‘4G’ brand everywhere, just like other companies are doing at the moment.
