Verizon iPhone Skepticism: 4G (LTE) and CDMA

Who would have thought that an article in the Wall Street Journal would have kick started the Verizon iPhone rumors once more. In the WSJ report it states that there will be a CDMA version of the Apple smartphone, but this has led to skepticism of a 4G LTE version.

There are a number of reasons for this, with InternetNews saying that CDMA technology is out as Verizon is working on the future of mobile data technology — Long Term Evolution (LTE). The carrier has been testing this next-generation technology with speeds currently as 40 megabits, which is the same as you achieve with fiber optics.

InternetNews is starting to come to the conclusion that we will not see a CDMA Verizon iPhone this year, as Apple sees this as old technology — and we all know how Apple hates to back old technology. Verizon has said that they expect to offer LTE to more than 100 million Americans by the end of the year.

There could still be a Verizon iPhone this year, but maybe it will be one that runs on the LTE technology, meaning that it would be a full 4G iPhone. Do you think that this will be the case?
