With all the talk of Verizon getting the iPhone in January 2011 — which could be the iPhone 4 or a full 4G version — we were taken back when we learned of a fresh rumor that T-Mobile USA is still in the running. That is not the most surprising part, what shocked me most was the fact that Apple could offer its handset to the other carrier as early as the fall.
According to Leander Kahney from Cult of Mac, someone in the know at T-Mobile believes that there is an 80 percent chance of the carrier getting the fourth-generation iPhone. We are not certain as to the position of the source, but he is reported to be high up in the company.
T-Mobile in Germany already offers its customers the iPhone, and it was their HQ who was rumored to help broker a deal with Apple — how much truth in this story is anyone’s guess, but they are certainly hotting up now.
We all assume that the AT&T exclusivity deal with the iPhone will come to an end some time this year, and it would be stupid of Apple not to offer it to either Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile — with the former being the preferred option. There is one other option, we recently reported that Apple could offer an Verizon / AT&T iPhone hybrid.
If you had to choose which carrier you would like to see the iPhone move to next, who would it be Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon?
