Verizon iPhone Deal: Apple talks continue

Earlier today Alan Ng reported that there was some interesting code buried inside iOS 4.1 update. One such piece of information was the possibility of a Verizon iPhone, and we now have an update to that news, as it has been reported that both Apple and Big Red are currently in talks.

Neil Hughes from AppleInsider reports that a Wall Street analyst told investors that Apple could be about to launch a CDMA version of the iPhone — we are not certain if this will be a current iPhone 4 model or a new iPhone 5 with full 4G technology.

However, in a strange twist, Shaw Wu with Kaufman Bros. points out that the Verizon iPhone could even be as late as 2012, this goes against all the recent rumors of a January 2011 release. In that time Apple could go an easier route with Sprint and T-Mobile, this would be a simpler task as they both run on GSM. However, it will take the combined effort of both carriers to fill the gap that a Verizon iPhone would offer.

We have covered on a number of occasions that Google Android continues to grow, and that Apple has no option but to open up the iPhone to other carriers in the U.S. We just wonder what is taking them so long to do so?
