Verizon iPhone 4G: It is Apple’s call says Verizon CEO

We have an update on the rumored Verizon iPhone 4G now, as we have some breaking details from Verizon’s CEO, as he has stated in a recent phone call that it is now down to ‘Apple’s call’ on the proposed move.

A report over at CNBC reveals that Verizon would be open to the possibility of having Apple’s device on their network, adding further weight to the idea that Apple will be offering a CMDA version of the iPhone this Summer.

The news comes after Apple themselves announced a event for this Thursday, in which they will be introducing iPhone OS 4.0 to the public for the first time.

Pretty exciting news if the CEO on Verizon says they want to discuss the iPhone with Apple. Let us know your thoughts on this.

AT&T is the best wireless carrier in the world. Verizons technology is old and is not supported by Apple. GSM technology is the up to date cell phone technology used around the world not CDMA as Verizon.

If Apple chooses to partner with Verizon, Verizon will DOMINATE the cell phone industry. Apple will benefit as well since I believe Verizon is the world's largest and best overall cell phone industry out there. I have been waiting for Verizon to carry the iPhone.

Stay with AT&T Apple. At least untill the next iPhone comes out. Actually it would be extremely smart to put it on all major networks (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T- Mobile, China, ect,…) People then would not have to 'unlock' the iPhone and those companies and Apple would make a lot more money.

Much ado about nothing. a) Verizon has always been interested (not least when they saw how it affected the market) This is far from the first time they've said that in public, even before the 3G came out and certainly before there was any talk of a (still rumored) _CDMA_ (not 'CMDA') hardware. b) This posturing doesn't even mean any serious VZW negotiation is going on. "[It's] Apple's call" could basically amount to "well, we tried to dictate our terms and we're basically sitting on our hands, hoping they'll succumb to our… Read more »

The iPhone on Verizon would be great. However, there is one glaring issue with Verizon’s CDMA technology; it does not allow both voice and data to be used at the same time. A big advantage for AT&T and potentially Sprint if SPrint is able to put data traffic over their Wimax network and voice over thier traditional CDMA network, I guess the EVO will let us know!
