The rumor mill is at it once again; the idea of a new Verizon iPhone 4 will not go away, now we have learned that a CDMA version of Apple’s smartphone could ship by Q4 2010. It is reported that Pegatron is to make the Verizon iPhone 4 in its Shanghai plants.
Digitimes also reports that Pegatron is hoping to land the iPad and MacBook orders, but as you would expect, there has been no conformation of this. This goes with the original rumor from WSJ, when they conformed that Verizon would get the iPhone in September — this would be perfect timing for the iPod event.
This does make sense to get another company to build a different version of the iPhone — Foxconn build the GSM model, and are currently working flat-out to meet with demand. If Pegatron were to build the CDMA version of the iPhone 4, then they will also need to work round-the-clock — as they will potentially have to build 8 million units for new Verizon customers.
The rumor of a Verizon iPhone will not go away, we do not know if it will ever happen, or if people have are now bored with the prospect?
