Verizon Droid Incredible 2.3 Gingerbread update- list of changes

Yesterday Verizon Wireless began rolling out the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the HTC Droid Incredible, by now the update should have hit most people’s Incredibles, however if not you can find out how to carry out the software update manually here.

Today we have a complete breakdown of all of the changes which this update brings and there is quite a lot to get through, let’s start by running you through a few of the new enhancements. When using your Incredible after the update you should notice that a new Download Manager App will take care of anything you begin downloading and when editing text you should experience easy copy functionality and word selection. The most exciting enhancement should really improve general performance and battery life, you will be able to see what apps are active and how much storage and memory each is using – the insight you will get from this should ensure that you won’t leave too many apps running at once.

There are lots of fixes and improvements which have been made to the Incredible’s messaging features – we are told that MMS functionality has been fixed so messages send correctly, not only this but if someone sends you an audio file you should easily be able to save and play the clip. One other tweak will allow you to send Vcard via SMS.

Other changes which are worth a mentioning include the fact that post update your Incredible will be able to connect to the internet via Bluetooth (which obviously depends on your setup), we can also confirm that VZ Navigator will operate over WiFi. Three small updates which you may like include the fact that the camera will function without a memory card present, also the City ID app has been fixed (no further details given) and finally when using the Music widget you will be able to change songs by pressing the forward button.

We would love to hear from you if you experienced any problems post update, or if you spotted any other slight improvements – let us know in the comments section below. You can find out more about the update via this PDF.
