Verizon Android App Store Launches Next Week

Android users are about to be treated to another place to shop in the form of Verizon’s Android V Cast App store which officially opens it’s doors next week, we can confirm.

According to an article at PC World, they say that Verizon’s Android App Store will be officially launched for the HTC Droid Incredible, where you will receive a software update that will also gift you with bags full of improvements to the phone. Other Verizon Android devices and handsets will be launching with the App Store at somepoint in the future.

But what is the point of this App Store you may speaketh? According to an employee of Verizon, the store wont override that of the Google Android Market, and will simply be a secondary option that is built into the devices.

In a way, Verizon’s App Store will mimic that of the Android Store, for the developer and the consumer. But it is thought that the Verizon App Store will offer opportunities for “promotion and discoverability,” unlike the Android Market.

All in all, I’m personally not sure what the point of the App Store is, as i’m told that Amazon, and Vodafone have also stated that they will be making their own App Store’s for Android.

Do you think that the multiple app stores could cause issues for both users and developers?
