In two days times Verizon Wireless will launch their 4G LTE network, currently there is no sign of a 4G LTE smartphone, therefore the only way to experience the super-fast mobile data speeds will be to buy a 4G LTE modem.
Below we have embedded an image showing that Verizon will initially be launching two 4G LTE USB modems, these are the Pantech UML290 and the LG VL600, these should become available from December 5th onwards.
Both the LG VL600 and the Pantech UML290 will cost you $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and require a two-year deal, you can find out full details regarding price plans and speeds here, in short you can get 5GB per month for $50 or 10GB per month for $80.
At the moment full details regarding these modems are scarce, however a recent SlashGear article suggests that the LG modem will not be Mac compatible and the Pantech may not be either, however we would like to hear official confirmation of this.
Will you buy one of Verizon’s 4G LTE USB modems? (we have embedded pictures of both below)
