Vauxhall Astra UK price drops in half

If you were talking about used cars and second-hand motors a 50% decrease in price would be plausible, but it seems discounts on unused Vauxhall Astra’s are starting to accumulate with these cars going for less than half price. If you were contemplating getting a brand new car the Vauxhall Astra is definitely a bargain motor.

Popular car program Top Gear classes the Vauxhall Astra as a ‘reasonably-priced car’, so this could be the ideal time to pick up one of these for a fraction of the original price. Details of this are discussed on Auto Express as they mention mainstream cars from franchised dealerships are managing to go for less than 50% off.

According to the report, private motorists have been offered no-nonsense price drops at Vauxhall’s official dealer network with prices as low as £9,665, along with other attractive deals on lower-specification models.

One of the dealership claiming to offer the Vauxhall Astra at less than half price is Barnes Auto Store with the Astra SRi 1.4 five door family hatchback available for £9,495, saving £9,665 on the original £19,160 asking price.

Massive discounts are becoming more apparent on new cars nowadays and other brands like Skoda and Suzuki have been noted as giving up to 20% off, while some Fords have been selling with up to a third off.

This is the first time a franchised dealer has cut the price of current top-selling motors like the Astra in half and we are intrigued to know whether this will bump sales up for the Astra, which is currently in fourth spot as far as the UK sales league in 2013 are concerned.
