If you have ordered a new Apple phone this morning and are upgrading from a previous device, then you might be wondering about compatibility. Is the iPhone 5 and 5S sim card size compatible with the new iPhone 6S? This is the question many will be asking today after placing their pre-order and the short answer is yes.
No matter if you go sim free with the iPhone 6S, or on a contract, you shouldn’t have a problem using the same sim card size and it should just slot in without any changes needed. You can see a couple of photos on this page detailing the iPhone 6, same as 6S, sim card and the tray that slots in as well.
What size sim card is for iPhone 6S? The big change came after the iPhone 5 release date and Apple moved to a Nano-SIM standard, which is basically exactly the same as you see with the Micro-SIM card but with plastic cut away from its edges of the circuitry. Doing this yourself isn’t recommended, instead opt for an adapter if you are upgrading from an iPhone 4 and want to keep the same sim card.
How to remove the SIM card out of an iPhone 5/6 and of course “S” models? This is done by simply inserting a small paperclip that has been previously bent, or the real tool Apple offers inside your phone box, into the small hole you see next to the SIM try. You then Apply a little pressure until you see the SIM tray pop out, after doing this just pull it out and swap your SIM cards then re-insert.
If you have any problems with the new iPhone 6S SIM card size, removing and changing SIM cards, or anything else then detail them in the comments so the Product Reviews community can help.
