US PS Vita owners to get another freebie from Sony

PS Vita owners in the US may have been unhappy with the situation regarding Motorstorm RC, which has been available for EU and Asia owners for a while now, but it looks like Sony has a little treat in store to make up for the delay.

If you have already had a taste of Motorstorm RC on the Vita, you’ll agree with us that the game is great fun and while there is disappointment over the lack of online multiplayer, trying to beat the online leaderboards will keep you busy for a long time.

In another treat for US consumers, Sony has announced that they have partnered with car company Scion to bring Motorstorm RC to the Vita, absolutely free. The game will be available to download from the US PS store tomorrow at no charge, but for a limited time only. A few things to put point out though – this offer does not include the deal that EU consumers are getting where if they purchase MotorStorm RC on Vita, they get the same game on PS3 for nothing.

It’s great that Sony and Scion are offering the game for free, but don’t think that it includes the PS3 version as well – that’s just plain greedy. For those of you who are thinking of just logging into your US account from other region and swiping the game as well – we’re hearing that this won’t work either, as the game will only play on the account that you downloaded it from. In most cases, this won’t be ideal if you have a second PSN account since all your friends will be on your main PSN account, so even if you do get this from the US account, you may not have any friends to enjoy it with on that username.

It seems like a fair result in the end for both EU and US consumers. US get the game for free, while EU get a free PS3 game on top – the end conclusion from our point of view is that the game is available for next to nothing anyway and it is arguably one of the best that the Vita has to offer at the moment, so you should all own it anyway.

Are you surprised to see this free Vita giveaway? Let’s hope it continues with more games this year.
