The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has been in the news a lot recently following its release last week in some regions. We have heard of problems for some users regarding the volume adjusting itself without any warning, and more recently that Verizon could be getting the 32GB version of the handset after all. Now we can tell you that the US Galaxy Nexus release date is imminent as a date gets revealed in Canada and preorders begin.
According to an article overt at Electronista consumers over in Canada will be able to get their hands on the new smartphone beginning on December 8th. Both Virgin Mobile and Bell will be offering the Galaxy Nexus to its customers, and it will be available for $160 on the condition of a new three year contract being taken. If you would prefer to have the handset SIM free it will set you back a cool $650.
Preorders for the new Android Ice Cream running handset have begun now but it won’t guarantee you the device come launch day. But Bell is running a special Twitter “lineup” on December 1st from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Time. This will guarantee the handset on launch day for the first 100 people who have to get a premade Twitter post, and then re-post every hour to cement their spot.
Currently there is no confirmation of the US release date for the device but Samsung representatives have said previously that the US and Canada release dates will coincide. The Verizon version of the handset could be almost twice the amount to buy though on contract considering the shorter two year contract.
Will you still be getting the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?
