Unclaimed Money From $33 Billion: Using Social Media

It does not matter what country you live in, there will always be unclaimed money from windfalls — America currently has $33 billion of unclaimed cash and has been sitting in banks waiting to be claimed. CSMonitor explains that it is now much easier to find out information on this cash begging to be claimed — thanks to the Internet and Social Media services.

Two of the best sources to find this information is Twitter and Bing, as the former is updated more often this could prove to be the best source of information, which you can see for yourself here. Do not discount Bing though, but we have noticed that most of their results for unclaimed windfalls come from Twitter.

We thought we would do some searching ourselves to see how easy it would be to get the information someone would need if they think that they are due any monies from lottery winnings or something like that. We were surprised at how easy it was — go back 10 years and it would have been a different story.

A simple search came up with a Facebook page, which was all about Wisconsin Unclaimed Property. We are certain that this will be the same for the other 49 states in the U.S. See for yourself, as Facebook has a mixed bag of results — some more useful than others.

Do not think that using social networking sites such as Facebook is just for the everyday person trying to make a claim — it is a service that is used by a number of professionals who’s job it is to do this everyday. More on how they achieve their results can be found on

As we came up with that Wisconsin Unclaimed Property page on Facebook we thought that we would see if we could find results for all 50 states in North America. We found that there are a number of videos on YouTube that explain how you go about doing this — see for yourself.

We hope that you have taken all of this information onboard — if you have any other tips then please share them with our readers.
