Uncharted 4 PS4 Pre-load can’t be cancelled

We have some useful information for those of you who are planning to pick up Uncharted 4 on PS4 when it releases in 2015. Sony has announced that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is available for pre-order right now and with it, the ability to pre-load Uncharted 4 too.

It is essentially a wake-up call to all hardcore PlayStation fans who are not worried about any delays during development. Sony has given the option for PS4 gamers to pre-order Uncharted 4 and then pre-load the game around one week before launch in 2015.

With Uncharted 4 set to come in at a considerable file size, this is a great way to ensure that you won’t have to wait around on launch day and will be able to start playing the game as soon as it strikes midnight on launch day.

As good as this is, other more eagle-eyed consumers have concerns about Sony’s PS4 pre-load feature. Specifically, the fact that once you pre-order a game you cannot cancel it on PSN as all pre-orders are final and won’t offer refunds.

This means that if you pre-order Uncharted 4 right now on PSN, you can’t cancel it at any point and you could miss out on pre-order bonuses that you could get along the way this year by pre-ordering with another retailer – Amazon, GameStop or EBGames for example.

With this in mind, there is some risk attached to pre-ordering digital PS4 games from Sony. Gamers have been pointing these concerns out over at Sony’s blog, with some even calling it an ‘interest-free loan’ to Sony with no benefit to the gamer if they just have to sit and wait without any cancellation option.

A good way to market what is otherwise an exciting PS4 pre-load feature, would have been to perhaps offer a discounted price of the game to give consumers an incentive to pre-ordering it so early. A pre-order, pre-load special price of $45 or something along those lines would go a long way with PS4 consumers who are looking for reasons to buy into this option.

Until Sony changes their policy, gamers may decide that buying a physical copy on the day of launch is still more beneficial than direct from Sony’s PSN store.

Check out the full list of games that will support this feature aside from Uncharted 4 over at Sony’s blog here – Battlefield Hardline is also a game that you can pre-order now ready for pre-load in October.

Do you also have concerns about the lack of cancellation option?
