There has been so much talk about Uncharted 4 and its possible release date, along with its story and setting, but there are other fundamental areas of the game that also need to be discussed. Firstly, there has been hardly any mention of its combat, and maybe of greater importance is the adventure.
It was only last weekend when we looked into the humor aspect of the next Uncharted game in the series, which was one of the reasons why the game scored so well with its reviews. That being said, we know from the start there was an issue with the shooting mechanics, and as such demanded an update to try to make improvements.
Uncharted 4 combat — needs to be better than the current game because it should never take four shots to the head to bring an enemy down. This has always been an issue for Uncharted games because Naughty Dog has put an importance on other aspects of each game.
We would also like an end to a stupid number of enemies coming to attack you, which then leads to a shootout and becomes tiresome after a while. It would seem that Naughty Dog has done this in order to pad the game out, which isn’t right because we know the developer is much better than that.
If Naughty Dog would just work on the refining and toning down the combat and put a greater importance on the adventure side of Uncharted 4, then this could become the best of the series so far.
Don’t get us wrong, all of the Uncharted games have been an adventure, but Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the Vita gave us a glimpse of what could happen if you included more adventure into the game. In order for Naughty Dog to make a success of its next game in the franchise, which will be coming to the PS4, they need to borrow many aspects from the PS Vita version because you could see more details were added to the game.
What are these details you may ask? Over the years we have never seen Nathan Drake carry a backpack, which is a small, yet important item for an adventurer, so why did it suddenly make an appearance in Golden Abyss?
Uncharted 4 story length — In order to make Uncharted 4 more of an adventure Naughty Dog need to work on the length of the story because the last game on the PS3 lasted for around 6 hours, which isn’t that much of an adventure is it?
It is clear to see that Naughty Dog will have to play a fine balancing act with Uncharted 4, but seeing as though they are regarded as the best, if not the best game developer, we have faith — just hope this is not misguided.
