2009 was not the greatest year for the auto industry, but as the Detroit Auto Show gets under way, 2010 has a bright future. This latest event will put an emphasis on those smaller greener cars, something that is seen as the future for the automarket, with the once gas guzzling American’s now choosing a more environmentally friendly option.
GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Mercedes and some of the other big car makers will be showing off their latest concept vehicles, with the aim of putting them into production over the next few years. It will be a shame that a few companies will be missing from this years show, this shows how brutal 2009 was for the industry.
According to beta.thehindu.com, this year’s Detroit Auto Show will be scaled back as the economy still has a way to go; sales in 2009 were down by 20 percent. The big three U.S. automakers have learned lessons from the past year, but it is Ford who seems to be making the greatest comeback.
The Blue Oval was the only one from the big three not to ask for a government handout, and has already started to see great returns from its new business plan. We recently reported how Ford aims to concentrate on its Sync system to help sell vehicles, and its latest Twitter update feature is certainly a step in the right direction.
