It looks like Twitter is down today after problems with BT not working, which is a UK ISP although some people first thought the issues were directly related to Twitter itself. After users looked into this further, they could see from friends and family that a pattern revealed only BT broadband customers had problems with the social networking service.
From what we can see, this Twitter outage today is only hurting BT customers. If you are with another UK ISP or even in another country, then we’d love to hear from you.
One Product Reviews reader said, “I couldn’t see any Twitter buttons on websites then went to the Twitter.com website and it’s not working. I’m on BT broadband”. Another added, “I can access the Twitter mobile website on my iPhone, but it is not working on my desktop and other friends with BT are finding Twitter down right now”.
Can you connect to Twitter today or is the service going slow? If you’re having problems, what country are you in and what broadband service provider?
Twitter had some big issues back in March and most recently Facebook saw an outage for around 30 minutes, but this seemed like forever to those that are always connected.
Update: We’ve heard that some people cannot even access BT customer help pages for support, the pages are just timing out with “failed to open” error messages and this includes other websites like Google.co.uk not loading randomly. Others are getting “BT server DNS” problem messages and the service status page cannot be accessed right now.
Now Fixed: Twiter is now fixed and loading just fine, thanks to BT fixing whatever DNS or server issues they had.
