Tweets show Hulu Plus not as popular as Netflix

There are two main subscription streaming services in the U.S., Hula Plus and Netflix and looking at recent tweets there is one clear winner. Now we know that you will all have your favorite, but it seems as though it is the latter that is most popular. Do not take our word for it but an infographic that you can see by Mashable.

Both offer a similar service, so you have to ask yourself: why is Netflix preferred over Hulu Plus? That is a good questions, one that we intend to find out. Having observed over 10,000 tweets from the end of June 2010 to July 6, 2011 we can see that 29 percent of users preffered Netflix compared to 20 percent for Hulu Plus. So what about the rest? Well it seems that 51 percent of those monitored were more interested in canceling these streaming subscription services.

Mashable says that it is no secret that Netflix has come out on top, as they have been going longer – although you only have to look at Android to know that this is not always the case. Although Netflix is more widely accessibly through devices, as well as having a more complete content library.

However, we should not count Hulu Plus out just yet, as they are adding new content all the time, but things could be about to happen that could turn things around. Yes, we are talking about the recent rumors of a Google or Yahoo buyout. Choosing which of the two would be better for the future of Hulu is a tough one, this is something that the user’s of each service should answer.

Although the infographic does share some interesting details with us, you have to know that it is not foolproof, and that there could be room for error. Having said that, these kind of studies are only out by a percentage or two, so that would mean that Netflix would still come out on top.

Although we can take one fact away with us, more people are fed up with the paid subscription and would much rather look for an alternative – what that is we do not know. It is all well and good deciding to leave these kind of services, but it is much harder to do than you might think. The first thing is your will power, and the second is the likes of Hulu and Netflix letting you go without trying to twist your arm.
