Within the Watch Dogs multiplayer modes you will find tailing and hacking that will start with other players coming after you when in free-roam, although it is possible to play online without interruption thanks to the Watch Dogs menu featuring an option to block multiplayer hacking sessions. You’ll be able to disable online invasions, but turning this option off comes with a warning before you confirm.
You might want to leave these options on for a number of reasons, including the fact that you’ll lose your ability to start Tailing or take part in Online Hacking. Skills you’ve unlocked will also be turned off and players lose Notoriety, so think carefully before you turn off hacking sessions in Watch Dogs multiplayer.
Turning off Watch Dogs Online Invasions – the menu option is there for all platforms whether that’s on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, or Xbox 360. You’ll also gain extra abilities while mobile if you use the Watch Dogs ctOS app, thanks to a new way of connecting console and mobile gamers in multiplayer sessions.
We explained how to start Watch Dogs multiplayer yesterday, which cannot be done until you pass They Can’t Hide. The online gaming sessions move away from the traditional matchmaking options and instead opt for a way to challenge other people through free roam, so you’ll receive random hacks by other players just dropping in when you’re in this mode.
You can turn off Watch Dogs multiplayer hacking and tailing to stop the interruptions when you’re free roaming. To block hacking you only need to go into the menu and visit the online tab, here you will find an option for Online Invasions. It will be set to “on”, but you can turn it off pretty easily although a warning message will appear before you click confirm.
The warning basically explains that turning off Online Invasions will make you unavailable for other players to invade. This also means you won’t be able to hack and invade others, Notoriety will be set to zero along with Notoriety Skills being lost, then you’ll need to confirm the option to disable Online Invasions.
Watch Dogs will monitor your style of gameplay and if you don’t like to hack in multiplayer, then you’ll be shielded against it and other people shouldn’t hack you too often even if you didn’t turn the option off.
